When learning to knit, learning is often easier when you have a project to start instead of simply practicing stitches. A novice knitter can accomplish several simple projects. These projects will allow you to practice a variety of stitches, casting on, casting off and various other techniques that will keep you busy and feeling accomplished.

Scarves-
This is often the most common project that many knitters start with. A variety of stitches can be practiced with scarves and you will learn to cast on and cast off. Color changes are simple to learn and illusion knitting is a possibility with such a smaller scale project.

Dishrags-
Using cotton yarn, you can easily make an entire set of dishrags for your kitchen. Whether you need rags to dry, rags to wash, or even rags to use for art projects, these simple projects can be done in a few hours and multiple stitches can be practiced.

Baby Blankets-
These simple, small squares can be easily created in a day’s time. Whether you give these blankets to someone you know, use them in the dog bed or use them as a throw on the couch, a small blanket is a nice way to start a useful project that will allow you to practice several knitting techniques.

Sewing can be a fun and easy hobby for all ages. Not only can you find projects to sew for adults but you can get your kids involved as well. ONe of the easiest things to sew as a beginner is a pillow. You can make the pillow any dimensions you like and use any fabric of you prefer. All the pillow requires is a straight stitch you can do wither by hand or by machine and is very quick. Once you have sewn around the corners the kids will love filling the pillow with the foam. You can also make coasters the same way without using a filling for the inside.
Another great project for beginners is making a blanket. These can be great as gifts for someone who is not feeling well or as a baby shower gift. All you do is find the fabric you like and get the same size for the backing. You sew it the same way you would a pillow. You do not have to worry about placing a filling in the middle. There are so many great things you can do when you are learning to sew. You can fill up your home with your creative projects or give them away as gifts.

When we were children, we would lie on our back on a grassy hill and look at the clouds. As we looked, we used our imaginations to see different shapes in the clouds, such as a lion, a rabbit or a spaceship to the moon. As we became adults, most people only see the clouds as a presage to storms of some kind. Many people have made it a hobby to watch the clouds and document them with a camera, just like bird watching. With the natural light, a flash would be unnecessary. Some people watch clouds as a stress reliever and to expand the imagination. There are many different types of clouds and the first step would be to learn the different types, what they look like and at what altitude they would be at. For instance, at just under 6,000 feet, the clouds seen are Cumulus, Stratus, Nimbostratus and Stratocumulus. Yet up to 20,000 feet Altostratus and Altocumulus clouds could be seen. And if the cloud is located above 18,000 feet, it could be a Cirrus cloud or a Cirrocumulus cloud. If a cloud that is unfamiliar is seen, documenting it could lead to being able to name it for yourself.

With such a wide variety of potential hobbies out there, it can be hard to choose just one. But who says you have to? Hobbies are there for our sheer enjoyment. So go ahead, what are you waiting for? Find the hobby that fits your field of interest most.

Some of the most widely popular hobbies are pretty basic things such as reading or watching TV. For lots of folks it’s cooking, while others prefer working on cars. Even relaxation, doing absolutely nothing can be considered a hobby. Hobbies are all about doing what makes us happy.

There are those who enjoy collecting. You can collect anything from coins to stamps to playing cards such as baseball cards. Others collect ties, shoes or any number of various accessories. People collect bottle caps, ticket stubs, concert T-shirts, movies, jewelry and so on. You get the picture.

Maybe your into some other type of random hobby such as gardening or bird watching. You might be a sport nut or into martial arts. While some peoples hobbies are board games and scrap booking, others prefer the outdoorsy type like camping, hunting or fishing.

The point is everyone should have at least one hobby.
